NASA. APOLLO 12 mission. In this superb and unusual photograph, astronaut Charles Conrad Jr. can be seen in the foreground approaching the SURVEYOR III spacecraft, which had landed on the Moon a few years earlier. He will remove its camera to bring it back to Earth. Far away on the lunar horizon, like an insect silhouetted against the infinite void of space, is the Apollo 12 lunar module, beside which an antenna for communication with Earth is deployed. November 20, 1969.
