The Day Humanity Discovered the Universe”

Throughout the 20th century, space exploration offered humanity some of the most extraordinary adventures in human history. After successfully landing men on the Moon starting in 1969 with the Apollo 11 mission, achievements continued with the photographic exploration of the planets of the Solar System thanks to the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 probes in the late 1970s and early 1980s, as well as the extraordinary photographs of the planet Mars transmitted by the Viking 1 and Viking 2 probes.

In 1990, thanks to the Space Shuttle program, humanity launched the Hubble Space Telescope into space, which, from its Earth orbit, began observing the visible boundaries of the Universe. Some of the mysteries surrounding the birth, life, and death of stars were then unraveled through the interpretation of magnificent photographic images captured at distances often exceeding millions of light-years.

Although mankind has observed the night sky and philosophized about the nature of reality since the dawn of time, never before had it been able to attain such a profound perception of the reality of its Universe. The images from Hubble thus forever revolutionized the history of astronomy, humanity, and photography.
